PRIORITIES

“to do the thing together”  is the concept by which our organization is driven. Out of conversations, experiences, shared burdens and above all shared dreams, we have partnered with Zambians, in determination to work together, in effort to improve lives in Zambian communities.
We have deeply enjoyed learning what it is to be in friendship with leadership in Zambian communities. We have shared our hearts with them and theirs with us. Above all, they shared their dreams and critical needs with us. In working together, six priority areas consistently emerged as tangible areas of partnership.

1. Pastors as Community Leaders
• Access to training through scholarships, mentors, leadership seminars by teams
• Income generating projects for pastoral families

2. Clean water
• Education
• Wells

3. Nutrition
• Education on livestock
• Education on gardens, orchards
• Agricultural / livestock projects

4. Health care
• HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and access to ARVs
• Vaccines
• Mobile clinic to remote areas
• Supportive relationship with Home Based Caregivers Program
• Income generating projects for HBC homes

5. Child development
• Student sponsorship for elementary through college/trade
• Community school teacher preparation and salary
• Community school student materials
• Supportive relationship with Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program
• Income generating projects for OVC homes

Although our projects fundamentally come out of these five areas; the framework of each project is Zambian in origin. On our first visit in 2008, we found ourselves in awe of the resourceful and positive Zambian nature. There are many wonderful grassroots, faith-based community programs in place and we were impressed by their desire to serve those in need and care for their communities. We have come to deeply enjoy the friendship we have found in sharing a common goal and in working together for the good of those in need.
