I am writing to you with my urgent Christmas wish-list. Since I truly don't need a thing this year, All I Want for Christmas… is to change the world with you.

Did you know that at least 50% of school-age children in Zambia do not have the opportunity to attend elementary school, and even fewer attend mid-high or high school? Did you know that over 50% of Zambian households do not have access to safe drinking water or reliable nutrition? I know this is shocking news, as we enjoy such abundance and comfort here in the U.S.A., but this is a harsh reality in many world areas today.

Thankfully, we have a local opportunity to participate in solutions to these life-threatening situations for the vulnerable in Zambia, Africa.

 

My friends at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene have been traveling to Zambia for the past four years and have witnessed Zambian Nazarene pastors serving as community leaders and doing such radical things in their communities as starting Nazarene Community Schools for children and Savings and Loan Ministries to support local business growth! These grass root endeavors provide sustainable resources for Zambian families and develop safer communities for children to grow and learn, and all this changes the future of a nation. In 2009, our friends formed LUKA International Foundation out of their desire to be a part of the solutions they saw gaining momentum in Zambia. Since then, LUKA has been actively working in Zambia by drilling wells, building relationships and partnering in plans for the future.
